Maintaining an optimum temperature is very critical for constant engine performance and fuel efficiency.

Engine oil serves a dual purpose: it lubricates the engine & also maintains the temperature by absorbing engine heat. Under the standard method, the engine oil is splashed on the piston and sleeve by the movement of the crank. To further improve the cooling efficiency of the new BSVI engine, a piston cooling jet is used. It directly sprays the engine oil on the sleeve and piston, which absorbs more heat and improves lubrication as well.
