Cutting-edge technology and the spirit of Honda
Our fundamental design philosophy seeks to maximise space and comfort for people, while minimising the space required for mechanical components. With this aim in mind, Honda's R&D activities include product-specific development and fundamental research.
PGM-FI
Fuel Injection System
Honda’s fuel injection technology is designed to realise ideal combustion, which results in delivering maximum power output, greatly improved fuel efficiency and yet be environment‑friendly.
Carburettor
Engine filled with carbs generate more (CO)
For optimum combustion precise ratio of air and fuel are required according to changing conditions but carbs are incapable to sense them and adjust to changing ride conditions and engine temperature. Fuel supply is limited or more or less according to rider input. Not fuel enough for engine requirement, result would be incomplete combustion which results in CO emission.
Fuel Injection
Fuel injection systems constantly adjust the air/fuel ratio many times a second. It is like a brain, working like an online tutor, using sensors which analyse real-time data. This method is precise in the amount of fuel used. Perfect air/fuel ratio, no leftover unburned fuel, low CO emission. The system runs on data from sensors to optimise the engine function for better performance and to keep emission levels low.
- CO – carbon monoxide is a colourless, odourless gas which is byproduct of incomplete combustion in vehicles. It is a major contributor to air pollution
- Replacing carb with FI is not a regulation requirement, but to achieve the permissible limit of emission, FI is the more suitable technique
- Honda being a global pioneer in new technology introduction and a socially responsible company will ensure fine‑tune up to FI to meet the BSVI norms
